Meet Kimberly Herrick

Experienced Attorney and
Dedicated Community Advocate

Kimberly is an accomplished attorney in Cabarrus County, specializing in estates and guardianships, trusts and estate planning, juvenile defense, and real property matters. Licensed by the NC State Bar since August 2002 and holding an NC CPA license since November 2015, Kimberly brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice.

Academic and Professional Background

Growing up in Eastern Wake County, Kimberly graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1993 with a B.A. in Secondary Education. She taught at Durham Hillside High School from 1995 to 1999 before pursuing her law degree at North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude in 2002. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Laws in Taxation with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center in 2003.

Legal Career

After starting her career in Personal Financial Planning at KPMG in Charlotte, Kimberly began practicing law in Concord at Mills Law, P.A. in April 2005. Her  commitment to serving the community is evident through her role as court-appointed counsel for indigent minors and adults, as well as her involvement with various local organizations. She has served as a board member and officer for Conflict Resolution of Cabarrus County and the Cabarrus Literacy Council, Secretary and President of the Cabarrus County Bar, and Treasurer for the Conflict Resolution Center of Cabarrus County.

Service and Leadership

In 2010, Kimberly was appointed to the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners by the State Bar Council. During her tenure, she contributed to several committees, including Character and Fitness, Finance, Executive, Drafting and Grading, and Bar Liaison. She handled appeals for Special Accommodations and served as Chair from 2020 to 2022. Currently, she is an Emeritus Member and regularly proctors special accommodations bar exams.

Educator and Mentor

Kimberly is passionate about education and has taught attorneys, paralegals, law students, and students in paralegal programs on various legal topics. She has shared her expertise through Central Piedmont Community College, NBI, Inc., the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Cabarrus County Bar.

With her extensive legal background, dedication to public service, and commitment to education, Kimberly is well-equipped to bring positive change and advocate for her community.
